This Sunday my husband and I got up at 5:30, we left baby girl with her Grandma and left for the STP 400. When we had checked the weather Saturday night they said it was supposed to be 65 degrees and we forgot to check Sunday morning. We really should have. It was cold, windy and cloudy most of the day but it was so worth it.
We got to see a few drivers giving interviews, the Sprint Cup (which was very fancy by the way), and we bought plenty of stuff.
Our seats involved a climb that seemed like it would never stop, and I made a few jokes about being higher than the birds fly, but the view from our seats was amazing!
Yup, that's our view taken before the race.
Our favorite drivers were neck to neck for some of the race which led to some great shots of my guy in front that i just couldn't resist.
That is my favorite driver, Jamie McMurray.
This is Joey Logano, my husbands favorite driver.
Our drivers came in 14th and 15th. It was a great race, even though I enjoy pack racing much better, abut it was so much more than a race. It was an all day event. There were thousands of people there, and didn't witness anyone being rude, there was beer everywhere and we didn't even see one person who had taken it too far. There were people routing for competitors right next to each other and only good natured jokes between them. It really was something fantastic to partake in. My husband and I are already trying to figure out how to budget in the October race. If you like NASCAR at all you really should experience a race in person sometime.
P.S. = Take ear protection, no matter what kind of other race you have been to, you can't even guess how loud they are.
